Hairstyles on Point
by: Patricia Louise O. De Guzman
Good shoes, nice clothes and charming accessories are what most people desire to have to feel good about themselves. But, for me, one thing that should also be given importance is the hairstyle.
The hairstyle of a person gives a lasting impression to anyone who sees it. Whenever we see people walking on the streets, the mall, the park or anywhere else, we would usually look from head to toe and we would sometimes commend the cool, beautiful and appealing hairstyles that each person has. From long and straight hair to short and wavy hair, from braided hairs to pony tails, from afro to mohawk and from clean cut to man bun. These hairstyles are very different from each other and each one possesses distinct characteristics.
For the girls, if you're looking for a cute hairstyle that would be good for the warm weather, why not try the pixie cut. Not only is it cute, but it would also make your face look more mature. If you're looking for a cool hairstyle, why not try the undercut. If you're looking for something simple and can be used everyday, why not try the different kinds of braids and pony tails. Other than the stated hairstyles, there are still many kinds of hairstyles and it's still up to you what you want your hair to look like.
For the boys, there are also a bunch of hairstyles to choose from. If you want to look cool, why not try the undercut or the man bun. These hairstyles are two of the most commonly used hairstyles today. Just remember, your hairstyle also depicts a part of your personality.
An important reminder: It's alright to be mindful of your appearance and to desire to always look good but you should always remember to also be mindful to what's inside you-your heart.
Fashion trends every girl should know
by: Shania Louise O. Jariol
There are a lot of trending fashion these days and surely you don't want to be left out. So here are some trends that you might want to try:
Monochromatic Dressing
Wearing the same color shades from head-to-toe is trending right now. Wearing all white will give you a classic look, while wearing all black will have a different approach of sophistication. But that's not all you can do for this fashion trend because you can also try experimenting with different colors. I would suggest that you should start off with neutral colors such as beige, white, gray, or black. Then try out some pastel colors before moving on to bright colors
If you think that solid block colors would be too over the top for you, try mixing it up with some prints. But make sure that it has the same hue to match the color of your outfit. Sometimes it's hard to find the same shade of the color you want, so don't be afraid of mixing it up with a lighter tone or a darker tone. It would surely look more flattering.
If you're thinking of wearing your favorite color, well think again. You may want to wear your favorite color head to toe but it may not look a bit flattery on you. Think about what color suits you because surely not all colors will look good on you. Try considering your hair color and skin tone in choosing the appropriate color for you. If you're having a hard time figuring it out, don't hesitate to ask your friends, relatives, or someone for help or advice on picking the colors that will suit you.
Also, try playing with different textures in order to not look dull. Textures will add interest and won't make you look like a human crayon(you wouldn't want that). There are a lot of options to choose from.
Shirt Dresses
Want something that will give you a sexy casual look? Try using shirt dresses. Shirt dresses was once called "shirtwaist dresses." This type of clothing can be a versatile part of any wardrobe that will achieve a chic look. A button front and a forgiving fit of the shirt dress dress makes a flattering look for most body types.
I have some tips for you in wearing a shirt dress. A shirt dress can be worn in a loose fit, pairing it up with heels. This gives you the casual and fun look. But remember that the shorter the dress, the lower the heels. But in some cases, there are exceptions to the rule. You can also try wearing it with a dress underneath and serve the shirt dress as your jacket.
Some girls like to accentuate their waist. If you're that girl, you can add up a belt or a tie fabric to give you more of a defined appearance to your waistline. Always make sure that the belt or tie fabric that you'll be using has a bold color or compliments the dress you're wearing.
Kimonos
Yet another trend. Kimonos give a bohemian look that you may want to achieve. It also adds a beautiful touch to any outfit that will instantly make you look fabulous. Just put in on any attire you're wearing, making sure that it compliments the attire, and you're good to go.
Overalls
Others believe that overalls are best to be left to those still in kindergarten. But I say, that we can pull this look off. Overalls gives you a sexy and effortless look.
First thing that you need to know is to get the right fit. Long overalls will look better in a slim cut, rather than the baggier style, to create a streamlined look. But if you're going for a short overall, make sure that is proportional to your body that will still allow you to move freely.
Instead of a t-shirt, rather put on a fitted top or crop top underneath for a more sophisticated feel. Adding a jacket or blazer over the top is also a great way to give your look a sense of structure. And if you want a cool and street style inspired look, choose ripped overalls in light blue color paired with sneakers.
And why not try going for a more luxe look by going for rich shades such as wine red and deep shades of purple and finish it off with a pair of stilletos.
Culottes
Culottes were originally worn by upper-class European men in the middle ages. But now they're making a major comeback in women's fashion. They were awesome then and even better now. This clothing is super comfy and sometimes would look like skirts. With its flattering hemline and versatile shape, there are more than one way to style this trouser. But I have to say that it can be vary intimidating and very tricky to wear. Full-leg silhouette and midi length of culottes isn't the easiest to pull off.
You must consider length and avoid any style that hits the widest part of the calf because this will highlight that part and can visually shorten the legs. It must hit the knee or above the ankle for a flattery look. It's best to pay attention to the details in choosing culottes that looks polished. Go for the right cut so that your backside won't look a bit saggy. If you don't want your culottes to look like a skirt and you want to maintain its shape, stay with slim cuts and structured legs.
Pairing culottes with a top would be better with a tailored or fitted top to show off your waist and to keep the proportion balanced. If you own a pair of culottes with prints on it, go for a solid top, structured blazer, or a fitted knit.
Heels are a must, unless you're very tall and you can pull it off even without making you look short. But for petite ladies, the longer the culottes are, the higher the heels should be, to elongate your legs. Be careful when wearing ankle straps for it can shorten legs, so opt for thin straps or skin tone footwear to create the illusion of longer legs. But if you're not a fan of heels but still want to look tall, wear flats that are pointed and you're good to go.
Gingham Pattern
Plaid is so yesterday, gingham is the new trend. You may think that gingham and plaid looks the same, but there's a difference between the two. Gingham is always white plus another color and the lines have same width, whereas plaid can be a combination of any color and the lines have different widths. Having gingham patterned clothes will give you more of a casual look.
The word 'gingham' was derived from the Malay word 'genggang' meaning striped. But later on, when it was imported to Europe in the 19th century, people in Manchester, England experimented with check versions. And over the time gingham evolved to be associated with check pattern.
Here are some ways to style gingham clothes:
If you own any gingham shorts, try pairing it with a simple top and a button-down shirt for a summery look.
Pair any gingham shirt with a pair of denim jeans and a leather jacket for a simple yet tough look.
Want some layering? Put on a gingham shirt, a cute skirt and a kimono.
Tie your button-down gingham shirt at your waist and pair it with some high waisted jeans or shorts or even a simple midi skirt for a cool and sexy look.
Try wearing your gingham button-down as a cardigan pop with a plain or printed shirt under and a pair of jeans while wearing flats or heels for a casual look.
You can also wear you gingham button-down over your dress. It can be tied or just used like a cardigan for a simple fun look.
Denim On Denim
Denim never goes out of style. Many fashion designer are now embracing the denim on denim trend.
The basic rule for this trend is to make sure that the washes and colors are completely different from each other. The colors should be contrasting. Lighter shades are better worn as a top because it draws attention to the body part they cover. Darker shades are better worn for the bottom because it creates a slimming effect.
Remember that 'fit is key.' Make sure that the pieces fit you perfectly. Jeans should have a skinny or slim cut, while shirts and jackets should be fitted. It's better to keep the outfit simple with just only two denim pieces of clothing in classic cuts. And don't wear denim accessories it may look too much.
Lastly, don't ever end up looking like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Just, don't.
